An international group, the ASACUSA-MUSASHI collaboration including our group, has developed a unique device termed a ”CUSP trap” which produces a cusp magnetic field to capture antiprotons and positrons — the corresponding antiparticles of protons and electrons. The group has recently succeeded in synthesizing antihydrogen atoms using this novel apparatus.
